The Years I Was 21: Vietnam

On April 30, 1975, the last American helicopter, part of the largest helicopter airlift in history, left the US Embassy in Saigon, thus ending the longest war in United States history up to that time. But a little over a quarter century later, the US would find itself involved in another war that would become a much longer and broader war than Vietnam. And a war that seemed to forget the one fundamental lesson that should have been learned from Vietnam. That is, even with the greatest military in world history, we cannot remake other countries and cultures into our image.
